We are extremely pleased to announce that Switzer-CARTY Transportation has acquired Dunn The Mover in Fort Erie, Ontario, as of August 31, 2021.
Dunn The Mover, has been a family owned and operated business for over 84 years, originally started by Charles W. Dunn as a local moving company in 1937. In 1953, Charles purchased 3 school buses to serve the local community. As the business rapidly began to grow, Charles introduced his daughter, Linda Alringer, to the company. Linda, with the same drive and passion for success as her father, worked at Dunn The Mover for a total of 64 years – succeeding her father as President in 1982.
Linda, in keeping with family tradition, introduced her daughter, Kathi Keller, to the business 46 years ago. Kathi eventually worked her way up the company to Vice-President, then becoming President in 2020.
Commenting on the acquisition, Jim Switzer, President and CEO of Switzer-CARTY Transportation said,
The family-friendly atmosphere and tremendous caring for employees parallels our culture extremely well. I remember year’s back first hearing how Linda would proudly refer to her Dunn Team as “my people” and was always very impressed by that. That focus on people has continued on under her daughter Kathi’s leadership and we are privileged and honoured to carry this legacy forward.
Jim Switzer further stated,

Switzer-CARTY was founded in 2011 by Jim Switzer and Doug Carty, veteran transportation and school bus industry executives. This year marks the ten (10) year anniversary of the company. On a personal note, Jim started his school busing career thirty-six (36) years ago in Beamsville with Babcock Bus Lines, is a Niagara resident and looks forward to being back to operating buses in Niagara.
