Niagara-on-the-Lake is known as one of Canada’s top wine regions and is a great destination for a group trip this summer. Located just a short drive from Toronto, it’s an easy area to head for a daytrip or a weekend getaway.
Why Hire a School Bus for your Group Wine Tour?
Though your guests could easily drive themselves, that would take away some of the fun of taking a wine trip together! Hiring a school bus or executive shuttle bus to drive your group for a wine tasting tour is a great alternative that allows for maximum fun AND maximum safety.
Speaking of Niagara and a great time, consider school bus rentals for your next trip to Casino Niagara or the many great Ontario casinos!
Comes with a designated driver – School bus rentals come with a driver, meaning you don’t have to worry about getting from one winery to the next safely.
More time to have fun – With someone safely at the wheel, you are free to have fun all day long with your day trip mates.
No worries about planning the route – Your bus driver will take care of the details for getting from one winery to the next, you just have to let him know which ones to stop at!
Various sizes – School buses are available in a variety of sizes so can accommodate groups of many sizes.
Great price – Rather than having each person drive themselves up individually or having to take a couple vehicles to fit everyone in, splitting the cost of a school bus rental is much more economical.
Great Wineries in the Niagara Region
Peller Estates
One of Canada’s largest and most popular wineries, Peller Estates is a must visit on your Niagara region wine tour. This family run vineyard is backed by four generations of winemaking and over 50 years of production, and has even been named Ontario’s Winery of the Year.
The most popular selling point of this winery is their ice room, located in the underground cellar. Though a tour is required to see this part of the winery the included cheese and chocolate parings and ice wine tasting are a great addition to your day.
Trius Winery
Located right next to Wayne Gretzky Winery, Trius offers a much more relaxed and intimate visit than its popular neighbour. Specializing in red wine, you’ll often find music festivals on their sprawling estate in the summer. You can also take a tour to see Canada’s largest underground cellar and snap some great photos while you’re there.
Reif Winery
One of Canada’s newest wineries, this German rooted winery is known for planting the first Vitis Vinifera vines in the Niagara Region. With a garden to wander in carrying a glass of wine and a low-cost daily winery tour, the variety of wines offered at Reif Winery mean everyone in your group is likely to find something they like.
Jackson-Triggs Winery
Just a couple minutes from Niagara-on-the-Lake town, Jackson-Triggs is a great place to stop before or after a walk along the town’s main street. The on-site outdoor amphitheatre at Canada’s most awarded winery is the perfect place to catch a concert during their summer concert series and the terrace is a beautiful stop to enjoy the view and a glass of wine.
Konzelmann Estate Winery
Another winery with German roots, this waterfront winery offers beautiful views of Lake Ontario and some low-cost tours and tastings.
Inniskillin
Known as one of the pioneers of the ice wine industry, you can taste a full range of whites, reds and ice wines at Inniskillin. They’re been producing wines since the mid-1970’s, and actually hold the first post-prohibition winery license in the area.
Plan a day trip this summer
Now that you have your transportation planned and a few wineries in mind, it’s time to plan a group trip to the Niagara on the Lake area! With tons of wineries to choose from, some stunning views to enjoy and a picture-perfect town to explore, Niagara-on-the-Lake will be the perfect place to enjoy a day or a weekend with your friends or family.
