1. Less absences
With a guaranteed ride to school each day kids are less likely to be absent. When parents, particularly those of kindergarten students who are new to the concept of having a set schedule each morning, no longer have to include leaving the house at the same time, driving through traffic and arriving to school in time for the bell in their morning routines, kids are more likely to actually make it to school each day.
2. They’ll be on time
With set pick up times each morning and a bus route that runs pretty well on routine, students are more likely to be on time consistently, vs when they have to rely on parents for a ride or bike or walk themselves to school. Especially if you have more than one child to get off to school in the morning, relying on a bus schedule to get them there in time can be the perfect solution.
3. They’ll make friends (and it’s fun!)
Some of a child’s best school memories involve the friends they’ve made. The ride to and from school on the bus each day is the best time for kids to get to know each other and make new friends. Children can get off to a great start to their day by having some fun conversation with friends. Don’t distract the driver, of course!
4. Taking a bus is safe
Riding a bus is consistently one of the safest ways for kids to get to school each day. Not only are kids able to avoid the possibility of getting lost or running into trouble when walking or biking to school, school buses are actually a very safe mode of transportation. With more and more teenagers getting on the roads as new drivers and having more accidents, riding the bus is a much safer way for kids to get to school.
5. Buses are better for the environment
When 50 kids don’t need to be driven to school in individual vehicles and can instead ride together in 1 bus, the amount of harmful emissions being released by vehicles is reduced. This reduction in emissions can be great for the environment.
6. Kids learn responsibility
When riding the bus kids have to learn how to keep track of both their things and their time. When they enter the bus with things like a backpack, a coat, and anything else they need to bring to school or home, they have to be responsible enough to ensure they don’t lose anything along the way. Along with their belongings, kids also have to be responsible with their time management. While you may be able to help them get to the bus in time in the morning, getting back on at the end of the day is a task that they’ll have to master on their own.
7. Professional drivers
Leave the driving to a professional, “B” class driver. School bus drivers go through extensive initial and ongoing driver training. Think of them as trained pilots on a plane! Their training not only focuses on “rules of the road” and transporting children, it’s on defensive driving. That means their focus is on accident prevention and avoidance, not just driving “right” according to the law. That means your child is in an extremely safe vehicle, driven by the most competent drivers.
Parents can breathe easy with their kids on the bus
With kids safely on the bus and on their way to school on time, parents are able to hold onto peace of mind. Since you won’t have to worry about the commute each morning and afternoon or be limited by the school schedule, you’ll be able to comfortably complete your to do lists each day. Knowing that your kids are safe during their ride each day will certainly give you comfort!
