As back to school season nears it may seem overwhelming to make sense of everything you need to get together to make the first day and week successful ones. From school supply lists to transportation options, there are many things that you’ll need to have ready. With the beginning of the school year approaching quickly, now is the perfect time to make sure you have everything ready to go!

What you need for back to school

At Switzer-Carty Transportation, we look forward to a safe return to school. We’re working with school districts throughout Ontario to safely transport your children and keep them safe – as with our entire team. Together, we’ll get through this in good health!

School Supplies

Pens, pencils, notebooks and markers are all important for those in class activities and assignments. Since your school will put out a school supply list to ensure you’ll get everything that you’ll need, it often only comes down to heading to the store and checking items off of a list as you put them in the cart.

Backpack

Nothing is more important to creating a great back to school style than choosing a great backpack for all their school supplies!

Lunch Bags & Food Plan

Figuring out what to pack in their lunch kit can be tough day after day so before the school year begins, sit down together and make a plan for all of the things the kids will be interested in eating each day. Choosing the right lunch bag is a great way to make lunch exciting!

A First Day Outfit

Help them start the year off right by choosing a stylish and comfortable first day of school outfit together. Walking into school with an outfit that inspires confidence and makes them feel comfortable is the right way to start off the year.

Your Bus Schedule

Knowing how your kids are getting to school and what time the bus will pick them up and drop them off is key to starting the school year off on the right foot.

Back to School Tips

Back to school season can be a busy time of year. These tips will help you get started on the right foot and start the year off smoothly.

Get familiar with school bus safety measures – Knowing how the school bus driver will ensure your kids safety both to and from school each day will help you feel comfortable sending them.

Make a plan for missed bus situations – Missing the bus is an inevitable event for almost all bussed kids. Having a plan for how they will deal with that will ensure they aren’t left stranded at school with no way to get home.

Set out clothing the night before – Getting kids ready in the morning can feel like pulling teeth some days, but helping them to set out clothing the night before can save time and make mornings go a little smoother.

Pack the backpack the night before – There’s nothing more stressful than running around the house searching for homework and any other needed items in the minutes before leaving for the bus stop.

Get homework done early – Rather than rushing to finish homework and stressing their minds out before bed, make a plan to get homework done shortly after school. This helps ensure they get it done and helps them to sleep better at night.

Plan an after-school snack – A long day at school means that kids will likely come home from hungry so having a snack ready will be the perfect transition for them.

Get to know the bus driver – Knowing your kids bus driver can help you know that they are safe and well taken care of on the bus every day.

Make friends with the parents of the bus stop kids – Knowing that another parent is just a phone call away if something comes up is a helpful tool for a new school year.

Back to school is fun!

Heading back to school doesn’t have to be a stressful time! Having a plan for everything you need to bring, getting to know your school bus route and using some of our back to school tips can help make the experience an easy one for both kids and adults.
