Strategic Transaction Expands Switzer-CARTY’s Footprint in Muskoka, Haliburton, and Near North Regions
BURLINGTON, ON — November 4, 2026 — Switzer-CARTY Transportation Services Inc. (“Switzer-CARTY”), a premier provider of home-to-school student transportation and charter services in North America, announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Campbell Bus Lines Ltd. (“CBL”), based in Huntsville, Ontario, effective November 3, 2026.
Founded in 1950, Campbell Bus Lines represents a proud 76-year family legacy in student and community transportation. The business was originally established by the grandfather of current President Dean Campbell, subsequently operated by Dean’s father, and expanded under Dean’s leadership into a major regional transportation provider.
Historically serving the original Muskoka and Haliburton Boards of Education—which later amalgamated alongside the Victoria Board of Education in the City of Kawartha Lakes to form the Trillium Lakelands District School Board—Campbell Bus Lines currently operates 57 routes across the District of Muskoka, Haliburton County, and Near North districts. Its service network spans from Sundridge in the north and Algonquin Park in the east to Dorset in the south and Rosseau to the west. In addition, CBL has proudly operated the Huntsville transit system since 1991 and maintains a prominent summer charter operation serving local camps and regional attractions.
“Campbell Bus Lines has built an exceptional reputation over three generations grounded in safety, reliability, and dedicated community service,” said Rich Bagdonas, Vice President of Business Development, Canadian Operations at Switzer-CARTY Transportation. “Dean and his family have cultivated a culture that aligns perfectly with our core values of treating people with dignity and respect. We are honoured to welcome the entire CBL team to the Switzer-CARTY family.”
“We have proudly served this community since 1950, so choosing the right steward for our legacy was deeply personal,” said Dean Campbell, President of Campbell Bus Lines. “Switzer-CARTY shares our respect for our team and our local partners, making them the natural choice to lead CBL into the future.”
The acquisition strengthens Switzer-CARTY’s operational presence in central and northern Ontario, reinforcing its dedication to partnering with local school boards, municipalities, and community organizations.
